Call for Nominations for 2014 CSMAA Awards
Return by February 1, 2014 for consideration
Each spring, the Colorado School of Mines Alumni Association honors various individuals who have made outstanding contributions to the school and/or the alumni association. Your help in identifying these persons will be greatly appreciated. Nominations may be made by anyone, not just alumni of CSM. All nominations must be made in writing and accompanied by substantive background information. Please note: Self nomination will not be considered. You may nominate one person for each award. The following awards will be presented in conjunction with Alumni Weekend in April.
Outstanding Alumnus/a Award
Awarded to an alumnus and a member of the alumni association who has contributed meritorious service on behalf of CSMAA. (Recent winners include Thomas Aude '62, Catherine Mencin '83, Candace Sulzbach '81, William Wilson '65, Artemas Holmes '60, John Schwartzberg '88 and Kim Harden '74.)
Honorary Membership Award
Awarded to one who has rendered distinguished service to the alumni association and/or Colorado School of Mines. The recipient must be of good moral character and in good standing professionally. The nominee does not have to be a graduate of Mines. (Recent winners include Kirsten Volpi, Marcia McNutt, Donald Paul, Mary Wheeler, Stephen Bechtel Jr., Meng Ersheng, Frank Hadsell '61 and Bonney Sayre.)
Young Alumnus/a Award
Awarded to a young alum whose accomplishments have reflected favorably on the school and the alumni association. The nominee must have received his or her degree no more than 15 years prior to the date of the award and is no more that 40 years old at the time of the award. (Recent winners include Alicia Jessop '06, Kelly Taga '00, Olivia Bommarito '03, MS '05 and Susan Evers Matsushima '97.)
Melville F. Coolbaugh Award
Awarded to a living individual who has made an outstanding contribution toward improving the image and enhancing the reputation of Colorado School of Mines. (Recent winners include Monica Steikunas-Griffitt '88, Jim Emme MS '81, Robert Trent '80, Jerome Gamba '58, Harry Campbell '42, Tom Davis PhD '74, Peter Bediz '41, '42 and Don Miller '53.)
Distinguished Achievement Medal
Nominations may be submitted at any time.
Awarded to alumni or former students whom the CSM Board of Trustees recognizes for significant career achievements that enhance the reputation and mission of Colorado School of Mines. These awards are considered by the Colorado School of Mines Awards Committee, on which the alumni association is represented, and approved by the board of trustees. Distinguished Achievement Medalists are honored at the springtime event Celebration of Alumni.
