Legacy Grants for Freshman and Seniors

For many years the Colorado School of Mines Alumni Association has operated a Student Financial Assistance Fund. In recent years, principally due to the generosity of alumni, this fund has included Legacy Grants to freshmen and seniors and Field Session Grants for summer study (eligibility for Field Session Grants is determined by Office of Financial Aid). To qualify for a Legacy Grant for full-time enrolled freshmen, a parent or grandparent alumnus/na must have been an active, paying member of CSMAA for at least the last five consecutive years. (If the parent or grandparent is deceased, we'll look at his or her record of paid membership for the five years prior to senior membership or date of death.)

Additional grants may be awarded at the beginning of the academic year to seniors who are children or grandchildren of alumni CSMAA members, if funds are available. (Same eligibility requirements apply as for freshmen.)The total award per student is dependent upon the number who apply and available funds.

All applicants need to have their application turned into the Alumni Association office by October 1 of the year they hope to receive the grant. In 2012 the grants will be presented at Parents Weekend, in November, to which you will receive an invitation if you are to receive a grant.
